Augmented reality to help law enforcement agencies fight crime
When fighting crime, law enforcement agencies (LEAs) are required to respond and make decisions in a very short period of time. With this in mind, the EU-funded DARLENE project aims to offer European LEAs a proactive security solution that will enable them to sort through massive volumes of data to predict, anticipate and prevent criminal activities.
To achieve this, the project will combine augmented reality (AR) capabilities with powerful machine learning algorithms, sensor information fusion techniques, 3D reconstruction, wearable technology and personalised context-aware recommendations. It will therefore develop practical and beneficial policing applications through the use of affordable, lightweight and inconspicuous AR glasses. The project’s results will contribute to LEAs' efforts to reduce and prevent crime.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 883297
