The proposal address very specific issues related to the present state of DNA profile analysis in the Hellenic Police Criminal Investigation Division:
- Reduced analytical capabilities in processing a large number of DNA profiles
- Non harmonization to the objectives of Council Decision 2008/615/JHA
- Difficulties in exchanging DNA profile information with respective European Law Enforcement Agencies These issues are additionally directly linked to the present financial situation of Greece.
Therefore the proposed project directly aims to mitigate the above mentioned issues through the introduction in the daily operational procedures of low cost affordable solutions with high operational values and capabilities, such as the one discussed in the present proposal. Furthermore, the solution could be considered as a role model for its introduction to other European Law Enforcement Agencies facing with similar problems
